The Indian Air Force calls for enthusiastic and committed engineers to become a part of the Indian Air Force squad. Aspirants short-listed after the initial selection procedure, go through a rigorous training regimen at one of the Air Force training establishments. Thereafter, they are commissioned as officers to embark on a glorious and fulfilling career.

As an Engineer, one can soar into a rewarding and challenging career in the Indian Air Force. One can even join the Technical Branch in your final or pre-final year of engineering through the University Entry Scheme.

The engineering graduates can join in the following branches of Indian Air Force:
Flying branch
Technical Branch
Ground Duty Branch

Here I am providing you with the details on joining Indian Air Force in the Flying Branch:

The following are the three modes of entry for engineers to join the Flying branch:

Combined Defence Services Examination (CDSE) One can take the Combined Defence Services Examination (conducted by UPSC) to join the Flying branch of the Indian Air Force. Male aspirants can join the Air Force through this mode of entry and will be given a Permanent Commission.

National Cadet Corps : As a senior division 'C' Certificate holder of the National Cadet Corps, one can apply to the Flying branch of the Indian Air Force. Male aspirants can join the Air Force through this mode of entry and will be given a Permanent Commission.

Male & Female aspirants can join on Short Service Commission with Term of Engagement of up to 14 Years with no extension

For applying through any of the entry points mentioned above, one must fulfil the following eligibility criteria:

Age 19 to 23 years*

Marital Status Single

Nationality Indian

Gender: This is applicable to both men & women as per the branch.

Educational Qualifications: One should have completed the B.E. (four years) to join the Flying branch.
