The Institution of Mechanical Engineers (India) was established in 1914 to promote, advance and update knowledge, business & practice of mechanical engineering professionals.

Membership
Student Grade Member
Student grade membership is given to those who have scored a pass in 10th Standard with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics or a pass in 10+2 examination (science stream) and who have minimum six months Engineering works experience either as Trainee or Employee. He should have completed 16 years of age.

Technician Grade Member
This is given to those who have scored a diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Automobile Engineering or Production Engineering or a pass in T. Engg or equivalent and who are 20 years of age and who have minimum 6 months experience in engineering works as Trainee or Employee.
