| ISM Dhanbad Direct Admission
Can you tell me if Indian School of Mines, now Indian Institute of Technology, Dhanbad provide Direct Admission in Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)? The Indian School of Mines, now Indian Institute of Technology, Dhanbad awards Ph. D. degree in all existing disciplines, viz., Engineering, Applied Sciences, Humanities and Management. The selection of Junior Research Fellow is through an all India examination and interview. I.S.M. also allows direct entry of M.Sc. Tech. & M.Sc. students into Ph.D. Programme. Under this scheme, top 20% of M.Sc. Tech. /M.Sc. students of respective Departments who obtain an OGPA of 8.5 and above, can apply for direct admission in Ph. D. programme, with the limit that each Department can have up to a maximum of 10 seats for all the courses offered by that Department taken together. Regulations for Award of the Research Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph D) Eligibility for Engineering/Science/Management One possessing Degree in Engineering / Sciences / Management, and selected through the JRF admission process of the Institute or as a project fellow in sponsored research projects through the selection process of the Institute or qualified in NET for research Fellowship, may be permitted to register for Ph. D. Degree of ISM provided any one of the eligibility conditions given below is fulfilled: (a) A Postgraduate Degree with a minimum of 60% marks or First Class or equivalent grade. (b) A Bachelor Degree in Engineering with a minimum of 60% marks or First Class or equivalent grade at the qualifying exam. (c) A Postgraduate Degree / Diploma recognized as equivalent to Postgraduate Degree in Management by AICTE/UGC/AIU and the Academic Council with a minimum of 60% marks or First Class or equivalent grade in the qualifying exam. Eligibility for Humanities and Social Sciences One processing a Postgraduate Degree in Humanities, Social Sciences, Sciences, Engineering, and Management with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade, and selected through the JRF admission process of the Institute or as a project fellow in sponsored research projects through the selection process of the Institute or qualified in NET for research Fellowship, may be permitted to register for Ph.
