Well the development of an Automatic Weather Stations (AWS) was taken up by ISRO with the participation of Indian industry. The event for this took place on the March 18, 2005 The Automatic Weather Stations (AWS) was an agreement which was signed by Antrix Corporation, the commercial arm of the Department of Space with a private company, M/s Astra Microwave Products Limited, Hyderabad. It was done for the production and supply of AWS to be deployed in various parts of the country. AWS can continuously record weather data like temperature, atmospheric pressure, wind speed and direction, rainfall, relative humidity, solar radiation, etc A GPS integrated with AWS provides accurate time for transmission of data.
