Framed in 1969, ISRO superseded the past Indian National Committee for Space Research (INCOSPAR), which was set up in 1962 by the endeavors of autonomous India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, and his nearby associate and researcher Vikram Sarabhai. The foundation of ISRO hence systematized space exercises in India. Objectives and goals The prime target of ISRO is to create space innovation and its application to different national errands. The Indian space system was driven by the vision of Vikram Sarabhai, considered the father of the Indian Space Program. Organisation Structure and Facilities ISRO is managed by the Department of Space (DoS) of the Government of India. DoS itself falls under the influence of the Prime Minister and the Space Commission, as well as manages the following agencies and institutes: Indian Space Research Organisation Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), Thiruvananthapuram.
