The Bangalore Campus of Indian Veterinary Research Institute IVRI was established in 1972 with the assistance of Government of Denmark for large scale production of FMD virus vaccine and conducts basic and applied research on FMD .

The Institute has been awarded International Gold Star Award by (BID) Business Initiative Directions, Madrid, (Spain) for the quality of work for the year 1988-89.
