Hey!!! Bioinformatics Centre of ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute started functioning in 1992 after Prof. R.K. Pachauri, the Nobel Laureate


Objectives

-To receive online/ offline information from DICs, Sub-DICs and other organizations to meet users specific requirements and to provide online/offline information to DICs, DISCs etc. on demand.

-To conduct national short term training/workshop and P.G. education in Bioinformatics to provide human resources for the benefit of research communities.

-To conduct basic and applied research in Bioinformatics and to develop databases and software’s.

-To provide help and advice in Bioinformatics towards the growth of biotechnology.


Major Activities

-Scientific Support :
The centre will cater the support to different National, International and Post Graduate Research Projects of the Institute and will continue exchange of information.

-Training and P.G. Education :
The centre will organize short term and long term training programmes for the students and research workers in the fields of Biotechnology, Bioinformatics and other related disciplines.

-Research and Development:

Development and upgradation of livestock disease database and other databases.

Adaption and development of microarray analysis tools.

-Online/Off-line dissemination of information.

-Search and alignment of sequences from databases.

-Training for use of different Bioinformatics databases

-Internet, E-mail facilities.
