B. Ed course offered by Jadavpur University focuses on understanding and inculcating the skill set required to be a teacher at secondary school. It is designed on effective learning-cum-teaching process.

Duration of Course: One year

Subjects offered for Jadavpur University B.Ed Admission:-

Bengali, English, Sanskrit, History, Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Work Education and Education

Eligibility Criteria for B. Ed at Jadavpur University:

Graduation or Post Graduation from a recognized university with minimum 50% marks.

It is not apply for one appointed as teachers prior to the start of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) act.

Minimum marks secured in undergraduate or the postgraduate programme from any university/ recognised institution:-

•General (For both FRESHER & DEPUTED - 50%
•SC/ST (For FRESHER) - 40%
•PD (For FRESHER) - 45%
•SC/ST (For DEPUTED - 40% (Honours graduate/ Master Degree)
•SC/ST (For DEPUTED - 37.5% (Pass graduate)
•PD (For DEPUTED - 45% (Pass graduate /Honours graduate/ Master Degree)

Age Limit:-

•For Fresher – Maximum 35 years
•For Deputed - No Age Restriction


Selection Procedure for B. Ed Course

Fresher Candidates will be selected in order of merit calculated on the basis of the following score:

For Secondary or equivalent % of marks x 0.1
For Higher Secondary or equivalent % of marks x 0.1

Total Marks will be calculated in the on the basis of:

1. W.B.C.H.S.E.: Best of 5 subjects excluding marks of Environmental Studies/ Environmental Education (out of 500 marks)

2. Central Board of Secondary Education: Best of 5 subjects (out of 500 marks)

3. Council for the Indian School Certificate: Best of 4 subjects (out of 400 marks)

4. Other Boards: aggregate of all marks obtained

For Honours Graduates (On the basis of aggregate of all marks obtained in Honours paper only)
% of marks x 0.3

For Pass Graduates (On the basis of aggregate of all marks obtained)
% of marks x 0.1

For Special Honours Graduates (On the basis of aggregate of all marks obtained in Special Honours paper only)
% of marks x 0.2

For Post Graduate
% of marks x 0.3

For M.Phil degree
3 marks

For Ph.D degree
5 marks
