Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT), Madras conducts exam for Joint Admission Test for M.Sc (JAM)

It is open to all nationals; but foreign nationals will be required to satisfy the rules and regulations of the admitting Institute(s) pertaining to foreign students for at admissions

Eligibility Criteria
Candidates should have at least 55% aggregate marks without rounding off (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for General/OBC (NCL) Category candidates and at least 50% aggregate marks without rounding off (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for SC/ST and PwD Category candidates in the qualifying degree

Exam Pattern

JAM Examination will be conducted for the seven test papers, namely: Biological Sciences (BL), Biotechnology (BT), Chemistry (CY), Geology (GG), Mathematics (MA), Mathematical Statistics (MS) and Physics (PH)

All seven test papers will be of fully objective type, with three different patterns of questions as follows:

Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ): Each MCQ type question has four choices out of which only one choice is the correct answer

Multiple Select Questions (MSQ): Each MSQ type question is similar to MCQ but with a difference that there may be one or more than one choice(s) that are correct out of the four given choices

Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Questions: For each NAT type question, the answer is a signed real number which needs to be entered using the virtual keypad on the monitor. A virtual calculator will also be available on the computer monitor.

Fee Details:
Fee for One Test Paper i) Female candidates (all categories): Rs.750/-; ii) Male & Others candidates (General /OBC): Rs.1500/-; iii) Male candidates (SC/ST/PD): Rs.750/-
Fee for Two Test Papers i) Female candidates (all categories): Rs.1050/-; ii) Male & Others candidates (General /OBC): Rs.2100/-; iii) Male candidates (SC/ST/PD): Rs.1050/-

Last Date for Payment of Application Fee through e-Challan: 10th October 2015

Last Date for Online Application Submission and Uploading of Documents on the Website: 14th October 2015

Date of JAM 2016 Exam: 07th February 2016 (Sunday)

Announcement of the Results of JAM 2016: 23rd March 2016

Submission of Application Form for Admission on the JAM 2016 Website : 15th - 24th April 2016

Last Date for Receipt of Request for Change of category along with valid documents in proper format at IIT Madras: 29th April 2016

Declaration of First Admission List: 15th June 2016

Declaration of Second Admission List: 29th June 2016

Declaration of Third and Final Admission List and the Closure of Admissions through JAM 2016: 11th July 2016
