Hello sir I am preparing for the JKPSC KAS exam so please provide me strategies for clearing this exam.

The Kashmir Administrative Services Exam (KAS) is a state level civil services examination conducted by JKPSC for direct recruitment to various state public services.

Examination Tips:

One should first read the basic books (NCERT) rather than going for journals and Reference books.

While reading, your focus should be on the conceptual understanding rather than simply memorizing the facts.

The Facts are easier to memorize if the concepts are clear.

The facts can be memorized by Using Mnemonics or other methods.

Solve as many questions as possible.

One should solve all the previous year’s questions of KAS and solve them again and again.

There should be no ambiguity in the answers. Writing skill comes through practice. Writing skill is also based on your knowledge base and conceptual understanding.

This only can give flow and lucidity to your answers.

Selection procedure

Examination consists of three successive stages:

a. Combined Services Preliminary Examination (Objective Type)

b. Combined Services Mains Examination (Written)

c. Interview

Preliminary exam

The examination will consist of two papers.

Paper I ‐ General Studies (150 marks)

Paper II - One subject to be selected from the list of specified optional subjects (300 marks).

Main Exam

The written examination shall consist of the following papers:

Paper I - General English (300 marks)

Paper II - Essay (150 marks)

Paper III & IV - General Studies (300 marks each)

Papers V, VI, VII & VIII - Any Two Optional Subjects selected from the list of the specified subjects.
