Indian Navy started inducting women as Short Service Commissioned officers in select branches of the Navy. Presently the women are inducted into the following branches of the Navy as Officers :-

The government has also given approval for Permanent Commission (PC) in Education, Law and Naval Architect branch on completion of SSC tenure depending upon merit and vacancy.

Education:
Ist Class Science Graduate with Physics/ Maths/ Electronics or MSc with Physics/ Maths/ Electronics with min 55% marks.

SSC- Observer

Age:
19-23

Education:
A graduate Degree in any discipline with min 55% marks with Mathematics & Physics at 10+2 level.
SSC Law 22 - 27
A Degree in Law qualifying for enrolment as an Advocate under the Advocates Act 1961 with min 55% marks.

SSC Logistics

Age:
19½ - 25

Education:
1st Class Degree in BA (Economics), BCom, BSc(IT), CA/ ICWA, Catering Technology or BCA/ MCA, or B.E/ B.Tech in Mechanical, Marine, Electrical, Electronics, Civil, Computers, IT, Architecture or Graduate with PG Diploma in Material Management.
