Joining Indian Army after completing BDS
Hello sir, can you provide me details regarding the eligibility for joining Indian Army after completing BDS. Can I join it?

You can join Indian Army after completing BDS as a Dentist in Army Dental Corps. Entry into it can be of two types: Short Service Commission Direct Permanent Commission Eligibility: (a) Candidates must be BDS (with minimum 55% marks in final year)/MDS from a college/University recognized by Dental Council of India (DCI). (b) Should have completed one year rotatory Internship recognized by DCI by (c) Should be in possession of Permanent Dental Registration Certificate (d) Should be less than 45 years of age (e) Should be medically fit in all respects for service in the Armed Forces Selection Procedure (a) Short-listing for interview: BDS applicants found eligible will be short-listed based on their Final BDS marks and attempts taken in Final BDS. Short-listed candidates will be called for interview. All MDS applicants found eligible & in possession of MDS degree will be called for interview. There will be no short-listing in their case. (b) Medical Examination: Applicants provisionally placed on merit list after interview by Selection Board will be brought before a Medical Board for ascertaining their Medical Fitness The SSC tenure is of 5 years extendable by another 9 years in 2 spells; first of 5 years and second of 4 years (total SSC tenure 14 years) for those who 6 are 7 8 willing to continue subject to laid down admissibility criteria. However, 9 on completion of two years’ service as SSC officer, they are qualified 10 to apply for limited number of vacancies available for Departmental 11 Permanent Commission (DPC) provided they had not attained the age of 12 28 years for BDS candidates and 30 years for MDS candidates |
