Re: Kalyani University Department of Chemistry

Department of Chemistry was set up in 1961 with Prof. S.K. Mukherjee, a renowned agricultural chemist and former Vice-Chancellor of this University and Calcutta University, as the Head and with 4 faculty members, the department now has a faculty of 26 persons. Since then it has always been providential in receiving good guidance and leadership.

Degree & Courses Offered:
Ph.D- One URS is chosen to each of the faculty members apart from the sanctioned research fellows in individual schemes NET (CSIR)-JRF and NET (UGC)-JRF.
M.Sc. in 'Chemistry'- A 2-year post-graduate degree with the option of specialization in four areas- Analytical, Inorganic, Organic, Physical

Specializations:
Analytical, Inorganic, Organic and Physical Chemistry.

Syllabus:
As per UGC, NET/GATE guiding principle with some modifications.

Annual System:
(Semester from 2007-08); 50% exterior evaluation.

Computer Facility:
Computational: A separate computer laboratory comprosing 20 PCs with one server, two printers (one Laser and one HP DeskJet) There is a essential Internet Centre in the University with somewhat restricted access.
