Kasturba Medical College (KMC) Manipal was developed on 30 June 1953 as the fundamental self-financing therapeutic school in the private division.

In 1958, when the highest point of the line of understudies graduated, KMC was surrendered affirmation by the Medical Council of India took after by the affirmations of General Medical Council of Great Britain, the Malaysian Medical Council and United States Medical Licensing Examination Board in the later years.

The school started at Manipal with the pre-clinical region. Before this, the understudies expected to go to Mangalore for their clinical getting ready. In 1969, when the clinical program started, KMC transformed into an unquestionable self-governing school.
