The department of Plastic Surgery, King George Medical University is one of the oldest and foremost teaching departments of Plastic Surgery in this country. It was established in the year 1953.

The Department is ISO 9001:2008 certified for quality care and is one of the torch-bearers in the field of teaching and training in Plastic Surgery in India.

The department is recognized all over the country for its pioneering work in Craniofacial surgery, Hand surgery and as a Nodal Centre for Leprosy Reconstructive surgery.

It provides teaching, training and research facilities to MBBS, BDS, MS (Gen. Surgery), MS (Orthopedics) and M.Ch. (Plastic Surgery) students.

The Department is a Smile Train (USA) Partner Hospital and thus provides completely free treatment to children afflicted with clefts of the lip and palate, including reimbursement of travel costs to the family.
