The terminology of the Center was changed from 'Place for Japanese, and North East Asian Studies' (CJNEAS) to 'Community for Japanese, Korean and North East Asian Studies' (CJKNEAS) in 2005. The Center began its M.Phil/Ph.D Program in July 2013. It turned into an autonomous centre known as "Centre for Korean Studies (CKS)" in August, 2013.
