Kendriya Vidyalaya is the co-educational institute which was established in 1963 to provide educational facilities to the children of defense personnel, transferable central govt. employees, employees of autonomous bodies etc.

Admission Process
For Primary Classes
Promotion From class 1st and 2nd is decided on the basis of continuous and comprehensive review made every month of the work done in the class and assignments given to the children.

There is no unit test; half yearly examination and session ending examination are held for them.
All students of class 1st and 2nd get promoted automatically.

If a student gets e grade in three subjects or more in class 3rd onwards, student can be detained in the same class only with the consent of the parents.

The student who gets ‘E’ grade in any 2 subjects in class 5th is given an opportunity to improve upon it and if he gets ‘D’ grade even in one subject, he is promoted to class 6th.

Promotion from class 1st up to 5th is done on the basis of the total assessment of competencies and skills made on a five point scale viz, A, B, C, D, E where E stands for ‘needs guidance’.

For Classes 6th to 9th and 11th
Each child should pass the continuous and comprehensive evaluation as well as the annual examination separately with at least 33% marks.
Thus, every child needs to obtain not less than 20 marks out of 60 in each subject in the continuous and comprehensive assessment for class 6th onwards and 13 marks out of 40 in annual examination, for being promoted to the next class.
To pass the examination, a child must obtain not less than 33% marks in each of the academic subjects viz Languages, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies and at least 33% in the aggregate.

In classes 9th and 11th if a student secures less than 33% marks in one or two subjects in the session ending examination, student is eligible to take the supplementary examination in those subjects.
The student will be promoted to the next higher class, only if the student secures 33% marks in each of these subjects in the supplementary examination.
