Madurai Kamaraj University was framed in the year 1966 on the sixth of February and the first name of the college was Madurai University and it got its present name in the year 1978 to pay tribute to the late boss pastor of Tamil Nadu Mr. Kamaraj. The core of the college was the Madras University's expansion focus already situated at Madurai.
