The Listening test takes about 30 minutes. There are forty questions. There are 4 sections. The Listening test is recorded on a CD as well as is played once only.

During the test, time is given for aspirants to read the questions as well as write down and check their answers.

Answers are written on the Question Paper as aspirants listen. When the recording ends, ten minutes are allowed for aspirants to transfer their answers to an Answer Sheet.

A range of English accents are used in the recordings, which reflects the international usage of IELTS.
