The National Law School of India University (NLSIU) is an institution for undergraduate and graduate legal education in India. NLSIU was established on August 29, 1987 by a statute passed by the Legislative Assembly of the State of Karnataka. It was the first ever National Law University to be established in India.

LL.M. Degree programme

NLSIU offers One-Year LL.M. Degree programme in two distinct and separate Branches of specialization:

(i) Business Laws
(ii) Human Rights Laws

Candidates have an option to join either.

The LL.M. programme is based on the Trimester system.

Intake and Reservation -

At present, the intake capacity of LL.M. Degree Programme shall be 50 (Fifty) with the following break-up:

Business Laws 35
Human Rights Laws 15

Total – 35 seats Total – 15 seats

Scheduled Caste (15%) 5 2
Scheduled Tribe (7.5%) 2 1
PWD (3%) 1 1

Fee Structure -

Total fee (including refundable deposits)

a) General Category Rs. 1,26,200/- p.a.
b) SC / ST Category Rs. 1,23,700/- p.a.
c) Foreign Nationals USD 4164
