Bangalore is the government state has gone ahead and agreed for new engineering colleges to come up in the state.

More than 24,000 BE seats were unfilled in the last academic year as the number of seats available outdid the number of the candidates.

Five proposals to start new engineering colleges in the state for the academic year have been sent to the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) seeking approval.

All-India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) was approved 20 new colleges in Karnataka. In Bangalore 43 new colleges are approved in the south-west region (including Kerala): 17 in the first list, and 26 in the second.

The nine engineering colleges authorized in Karnataka are:

Achuda Institute of Technology, Belgaum;

Bangalore Technical Institute, Bangalore

Veerappa Nisty Engineering College

Koduthai Engineering College for Women, Gulbarga

AGM Rural College of Engineering and Technology, Dharwad

Kammavari Sangham Group of Institutions (integrated campus), Bangalore

Gopalan College of Engineering and Management, Bangalore

Jain College of Engineering, Belgaum

Sampoorna Group of Institutions (integrated campus), Ramanagaram
