The University of Calcutta was founded on January 24,1857. World ranking provided to the Calcutta University: Rank 601 in World University Rankings 2014/15 Rank151 in University Subject Rankings 2013/14 Rank50 in BRICS Rankings 2014/15 Rank131 in Asian University Rankings 2014/15 The ranks were given on four key parameters: Research , teaching, employability and internationalization. The methodology has six indicators : Academic reputation (40%) Employer reputation (10%), Facultystudent ratio (20%) Citations per faculty (20%) International students (5%) and International faculty (5%).
