The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore didn’t conduct any entrance exam to get admission into undergraduate, postgraduate and research programme.

The admission into these courses will be based on JEE Main, KVPY, GATE, NEET, JAM, etc.

IISc Eligibility

Bachelor of Science (Research)

10+2 or PUC examination in 2016 with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics as a main subject from a recognized board.

Candidates who have studied Biology, Electronics, Computer Science, Statistics, etc., in addition to PCM are also eligible to apply.

Candidates have first class or 60% or equivalent grade in a qualifying examination.

SC/ST Candidates have to score only passing marks in the examination.
Appearing candidates can also apply.

Candidates have to qualify one of the national level entrance tests: JEE Main, NEET, JEE Advanced & KVPY.

M.Tech/M.Des/M.Mgt Programme

Candidates have to complete bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Engineering/Technology.

Candidates have to pass bachelor’s degree in Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Science/Electronics.

Candidates have to qualify the master’s degree in Science disciplines (Physics with Electronics/ Instrumentation/Geology/Computer Application/Physical Sciences/Mathematical Sciences).

Candidates have to complete bachelor’s degree in Architecture/Design (for M Des programme only).

For M.Tech/M.Des programme, candidates have to pass the examination with second class.

For M.Mgt, candidates have to pass the examination with first class.

Diploma passing candidates who got exemption of 1 year in the Engineering/Technology are also eligible to apply.

SC/ST candidates have to secure only passing marks in the examination.
Appearing candidates are also eligible.

All the candidates have to qualify GATE (for M.Tech), GATE or CEED (for M.Des), GATE or CAT or GMAT (for M.Mgt).

Integrated Ph.D

Candidates have to complete bachelor’s degree in Biology/Biotechnology/Chemistry/ Physics/Mathematics/Pharmacy/Veterinary Sciences/Agriculture, under the 10+2+3/4 system.

Candidates have to pass bachelor’s degree minimum first class or equivalent grade.

SC/ST candidates have to secure only passing marks in the examination.
Appearing candidates are also eligible.

BE/B.Tech degree holder who qualify JAM exam in Mathematics/Mathematical Statistics, they can apply for the Mathematical Sciences discipline.

BE/B.Tech degree holder who pass JAM exam in Biotechnology, they can apply for Biological Sciences discipline.

Candidates who have qualify JEST, they are eligible to get admission in Physical Science Discipline.

Research Programme (Ph.D & M.Tech (Research))

Candidates have to qualify master’s degree or its equivalent in any branch of Science/Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Applications/Pharmacy/Veterinary Science/Agriculture/ Humanities.

Candidates have to completed master’s degree or its equivalent in Engineering/ Technology/Architecture.

Candidates who holds Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Engineering/Technology/ Medicine/ Architecture/ Biotechnology/Pharmacy/Veterinary Science/Agriculture can also apply.

Bachelor of Science programmes (4 years) are also eligible to apply.
Candidates have to pass bachelor’s degree in Physics/

Chemistry/Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Science/Electronics followed by qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognized by UPSC/AICTE as being equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.

Candidates who have pass MBA or its equivalent subsequent to BE/B.Tech can also apply for Department of Management Studies only.

The minimum requirement for admission to the research programme is a second class.
SC/ST candidates have to secure only passing marks in the examination.

Candidates have to qualify one of the following appropriate national tests is mandatory: CSIR-UGC NET for JRF; or UGC-NET for JRF; or DBT JRF; or ICMR JRF; or JEST; or NBHM Screening Test; or GATE or INSPIRE fellows (for Ph.D).
