National Institute of Technology Rourkela formerly Regional Engineering College Rourkela (REC Rourkela), is an openly supported head organization of higher learning for designing, science and innovation situated in the steel city of Rourkela, Odisha, India. It is one of the 31 National Institutes of Technology in India and has been perceived as an Institute of National Importance by the National Institutes of Technology Act, 2007. It is positioned 19 in the NIRF Rankings of Indian Engineering Universities.

Organization

The Institute is overseen by a Board of Governors (BoG) made according to NIT Act of 2007. Under the Act,which is in charge of the general superintendence, bearing and control of its undertakings. The Director is in charge of dealing with the everyday undertakings of the foundation, and the Director is the Principal Executive and Academic Officer. The Board of Governors is helped by three different experts, viz., The Senate, which outlines the educational programs and directs the examinations.

Foundation

The grounds of the establishment is arranged at the eastern end of Rourkela steel city, past Sector-1, ashore gave by the Government of Odisha. The courses are generally private on a full-time premise.

Rankings

NIT Rourkela has been positioned as the 21st best Engineering College of India in the Edu-Rand Rankings of 2015.[8] The study was done together by Edu, an Indian organization and Rand Corporation, a non-benefit American thinktank.[9] According to the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), the establishment is positioned 19 in the 2016 building college rankings
