Re: Nmia cidco
Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) is an under construction international airport built at Ulwe Kopar-Panvel in Maharashtra, India. It will be the 2nd International Airport for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, functioning alongside Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSIA) as India's first urban multi-airport system. The first phase of the airport will be able to handle 20 million passengers per annum. The airport will be expanded to its final capacity to handle more than 90 million passengers per annum. Texas-based Jacobs Engineering Group will chart the final master plan for the airport, while the airport passenger terminal and Air Traffic Control (ATC) Tower will be designed by London-based Zaha Hadid Architects. The ₹160 billion (US$2.3 billion) project is being executed by Navi Mumbai International Airport Limited (NMIAL), a Special Purpose Entity formed by the GVK group and City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) which will hold 74% and 26% equity shares of NMIAL respectively. CIDCO is the nodal government agency for the project which will be built through public–private partnership (PPP) on a design, build, and finance, operate and transfer (DBFOT) basis. The airport covers an area of 1,160 hectares (4.5 sq mi). It is expected to be operational in 2023. Location of NMIA Geographically, it is situated at 18° 59′ 40″ N latitude and 73° 04′ 13″ E longitude on the National Highway No. 4B. On the physical map of Navi Mumbai it is almost at the centre of the city, near Panvel. And from the existing Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSIA), Mumbai it is at a distance of approximate 35 km. The National Highway 4B provides the main road access to it from the east, whereas the Aamra Marg provides road access to the Airport from the west. Its site is also accessible from Targhar Railway Station on the Nerul–Uran Railway line presently under development. NMIA Advantages Employment It has a huge employment generation potential. Once complete it will create skilled and non-skilled jobs to a large extent jobs directly and indirectly in the sectors such as logistics, trading-forwarding, hospitality, luxury product manufacturing, BPOs etc. Industry It would boost industrial development along the Mumbai-Pune-Ahmednagar corridor, the Mumbai-Nashik Corridor and Konkan belt. This boost would assure steady revenue to the investors and attract further investments in the region. Commerce It is likely to attract an investment in MMR and surrounding areas. It will boost agriculture & floriculture and hi-tech market. It will also make imports cheaper with low expenditure on transportation. |
