An exceptional tailor-made week-end, one year Management Program for proprietor business people and their relatives who might want to furnish themselves with the learning of cutting edge administration ideas and practices

Program Design

The project, in Four Modules, spread more than two semesters, acquaints business people with present day ideas and practices in different utilitarian territories of administration. In the meantime, delicate abilities, for example, correspondence and systems administration aptitudes, together with client and supplier relationship are educated to upgrade the member's "viability" as business person administrators to start and lead the development procedure.

Program Objectives

A spearheading activity of SVKM's Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS)— School of Business Management—to encourage move from customary to contemporary administration in Family-Managed Small and Medium Enterprises.

Instructional method

Addresses and presentations by scholarly and experienced workforce frame the center of the project, supplemented by gifts and assignments.

Understudies are given assignments in 4-5 center administration ranges.

A point by point venture all alone business with a SWOT examination. This is a Compulsory Requirement.

Book talks help everybody to better comprehend the cutting edge administration thoughts (Faculty direction is given).

Presentations by past understudies business visionaries

Presentation of tasks: by understudies in the class offers an extraordinary learning chance to all members.

Saturday : 9.30 am to 4.30 pm.

Sunday : 9.30 am to 1.45 pm.

Challenges of the new business environment and what ever - Entrepreneurs need to do.
• Understanding the changing economic and business environment – domestic & global
• The Management Function
1. Conceptual understanding of major challenges and tasks facing owner-managers and developing an integrated perspective of one’s family business.
2. Family business – its unique nature and the interface between family and business
3. Need for developing a professional approach for managing one’s family business.
Assignment
Students to submit a Position paper on the history and growth of their family businesses as per guidelines provided by faculty.

Module 2
Developing competencies through a comprehensive understanding of following functional areas
• Modern Management concepts and practices
• Marketing and customer relationship management
• Communication and net-working skills
• HRM/HRD-Systems and Practices for Family Business
• Accounting and financial concepts
• The meaning of “Professional Management” : Moving from traditional to

Three assignments on General Management, Marketing Management and HR to be submitted.

Semester-II (Jan - April)

Module 3

Managing for growth in the new business environment
• Financial management and control systems
• Developing international business competencies
• Cost Management Techniques and cases for a competitive edge
• Operations, Supply Chain and supplier relations management
• Future Growth of Family-managed businesses

Assignment
Assignment on Operations and Supply chain to be submitted.

Module 4
Enhancing managerial effectiveness
• Strategic Management for growth.
• Building up a great image of your family business
• Sales & Distribution Management
• Business Taxation
• The Radical change concept (Book Discussions)

Assignment
• Submission of Compulsory project on one’s own family Business
• Presentation of Selected Family Business Projects and discussions on them for mutual learning.
