Re: ONGC Oil Fields in Assam
Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) is an Indian multinational oil and gas organization headquartered in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India. It is a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) of the Government of India, under the regulatory control of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. The significant oilfields in north-east India are those of the Brahmaputra valley in Assam and its neighboring ranges including Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Tripura, Manipur and Mizoram. Assam: Assam is the most seasoned oil creating state in India. The fundamental oil bearing strata stretch out for a separation of 320 km in upper Assam along the Brahmaputra valley. Taking after are a portion of the vital oilfields of Assam: 1. The Digboi field: Situated in the north-east of Tipam slopes in Dibrugarh area of Upper Assam, Digboi is the most established oil field of India. The oil bearing strata cover a range of around 13 sq km where oil is accessible at 400 to 2,000 meter profundity. 2. The Naharkatiya field: It is situated at a separation of 32 km southwest of Digboi at the left bank of Burhi Dibing stream. Here oil was found in 1953 and generation began in 1954. Oil is accessible at profundities fluctuating from 4,000 to 5,000 meters. Out of the 60 fruitful wells penetrated as such, 56 are delivering oil while the rest of the 4 are creating normal gas. 3. The Moran-Hugrijan field: It is situated around 40 km south-west of Naharkatiya. Oil at Moran-Hugrijan field was found in 1953 and creation began in 1956. Boring has demonstrated an oil bearing Barail skyline at a profundity of 3,355 meter. Moran s potential might be assessed at one million tons for every annum. Upwards of 20 wells have been penetrated which yield oil and gas. Oilfields of Assam are generally difficult to reach and are indirectly situated from the primary expending ranges. Oil from Assam is, in this manner, refined for the most part in the refineries situated at Digboi, Guwahati, Bongaigaon, Barauni and Nomaligarh. |
