Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) / DOS has launched the Village Resource Centres (VRCs) program in association with NGOs/ Trusts and state/ central agencies.

6500 programs have been conducted by the VRCs in areas like:
Agriculture/horticulture development;
Fisheries development;
Live stock development;
Water resources;
Tele health care;
Awareness programs;
Woman’s empowerment;
Supplementary education;
Computer literacy;
Micro credit;
Micro finance;
Skill development / Vocational training for livelihood support etc.

There are 461 VRCs set up in 22 States/Union Territories in:
Andhra Pradesh,
Assam,
Bihar,
Delhi,
Gujarat,
Himachal Pradesh,
Jharkhand,
Karnataka,
Kerala,
Madhya Pradesh,
Maharashtra,
Meghalaya,
Nagaland,
Orissa,
Puducherry,
Rajasthan,
Sikkim.
Tamil Nadu,
Uttarakhand,
Uttar Pradesh,
West Bengal
A & N islands.
