Re: Oublier Une Amie Citation

False Friends are words in two dialects (or letters in two alphabets)[1] that look or sound comparative, yet contrast fundamentally in significance.

The term is an abbreviated variant of the articulation "bogus companion of an interpreter", the French adaptation of which (false amis du traducteur) was presented by language specialists Maxime Kœssler and Jules Derocquigny

Presently, you who never request anything, who never feel sorry for you, who are constantly prepared to help other people, ask of your alleged companion the littlest administration that a decent soul would readily give you. From you to me, on the off chance that he finds the smallest reason to react positively to your demand, let him fall

Quotes and Proverbs: The False Friends

"The most despicable of men, the false friends by interests."
Quote from Axel Oxenstiern ; Reflections on Falseness (1652)

"Nothing is more bizarre than the zeal of certain friendships, or people are eager to take charge of your interests in order to abandon your cause; they call it attachment. Better is hatred."
Quote from Benjamin Constant ; Adolphe (1816)

"Similar to the bee, which, ungrateful and light, moves away from the broad forehead of the elephant, as soon as the abundant dew has dried up, so the false friends no longer come knocking at home hence wealth has fled."
Quote from Shûdraka ; The child carriage - VII e s.

"If we have a lot of friends, there are few who we can count on."
Quote from Plautus ; The impostor - II e s. BC. AD

"The world is full of false friends, deceivers and hypocrites with a graceful mask."
Citation of Henri-Frédéric Amiel ; Diary, December 25, 1879.

"False friends resemble counterfeit money, they have its brilliance and little value."
Quote from Axel Oxenstiern ; Reflections on false friends (1652)

"Let us keep false friends;" "it is no good gilding, friend, to be of gold."
Citation of Henri-Frédéric Amiel ; Diary, December 25, 1879.

False friends are more dangerous than declared enemies.
Citation of Henri-Frédéric Amiel ; Diary, May 5, 1878.

The false friends resemble a snowman who melts at the slightest ray of the sun.
Quote from Louis Joseph Mabire ; Dictionary of Arabic Proverbs (1830)

The love of God and men alone is the true devotee; interest and fear are only bigots. Unfortunately, true devotion is as rare as true friendship; and humanity is composed only of bigots and false friends.
Quote from Auguste Guyard ; Quintessences (1847)

Enemy is better than false friends.
Quote from Robert Sabatier ; Diogenes (2001)

There is little perfect friendship, but there are many false friendships out of interest.
Quotation by Marquise de Lambert ; Treaty of Friendship (1732)

The recommendation is often rather an effect of the desire to get rid of people, than a real mark of sincere friendship.
Quote from Axel Oxenstiern ; Reflections on History (1652)

With false friends one falls faster into oblivion than one stays in their heart.
Quote from Maxalexis ; The False Friendship (2015)

The mania of the heart is to believe in friends who love us and who help us: obstinate chimera, to be extirpated. My friends , said Aristotle, there are no friends! Let us hold ourselves as those who are not against us, and consider as we do good enough those who do us no harm, then let us stand .
Citation of Henri-Frédéric Amiel ; Journal intime, October 22, 1876.

When poverty comes in through the door, friendship and considerations come out of the window.
Quote from Axel Oxenstiern ; Reflections on false friends (1652)

In friendship, as in love, it is relations as light as bubbles of soap.
Quote from Maxalexis ; The false friends (2013)

The friendship that ends and breaks has never been true friendship.
Quote from Maxalexis ; The Fake Friends (2009)

Do not you have any friends? Play lotto! if you come to win soon you will have too much!
Quote from Maxalexis ; Interest friendship, me, never! (2013)

A friend who makes you false is no longer worthy to bear the name.
Quote from Maxalexis ; The Fake Friends (2009)

The false friends are birds of passage that come at the good season, and go to the bad.
Citation of France ; Book of French Proverbs (1859)

The friendship of a deceiver is like the shadow of a bush, it disappears very quickly.
Quote from England ; Proverbs and English Adages (1840)

A false friend is often a person who is jealous of you, too envious of your many successes, who gives you unnecessary advice, or, as soon as you have your back turned, makes you run the worst slanders for a purpose intentionally to harm you. If you know such a person, and if you suffer from it, it is better to break this uninteresting friendship and move on.
Quote from Marie d'Agoult ; Moral Sketches (1849)
