Pacific Lutheran University offers Master of Science in Nursing program. It is Ranked as one of the top 100 graduate nursing programs in the US by US News and World Report (2015-2016 ranking), the MSN Care and Outcomes Manager (COM) program is designed to equip nurses with the knowledge and skills to lead change, promote health and elevate care in various roles and settings. Master of Science in Nursing There are three entry points into the MSN curriculum: Entry-Level Master’s – for non-nurses with a degree in another field who want to complete the RN and MSN in 27 months BSN to MSN – for nurses with a BSN RN-B to MSN – for nurses with a bachelor’s degree in another field The core MSN curriculum prepares an advanced generalist, who has the knowledge and skills required of all master’s‐prepared nurses as determined by the AACN Essentials of Master’s Education in Nursing (2011). The MSN student may also choose an area of specialization. Two areas of role specialization are available: Advanced Generalist Clinical Nurse Leader® Admission Requirements Admission to the MSN program is competitive, the admission requirements below are the minimum requirements for consideration for unconditional admission to the program Admission Requirements for Entry-Level and RN-B to MSN Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) minimum cumulative GPA GRE scores from within five years at or near the 50th percentile on the Quantitative and Verbal sections of the exam, 150 in both the verbal and quantitative section (or 500 quantitative on the old scale) and 4.00 in analytic writing (Waived for previous graduate degree from an accredited U.S. school. Completion with a minimum grade of 3.0 (B) or better in each prerequisite course : College-level Statistics (both descriptive and inferential) Human Anatomy and Physiology I (with on-site lab within last six years) Human Anatomy and Physiology II (with on-site lab within last six years) Developmental Psychology—Lifespan Intro to Microbiology (with on-site lab within last six years) Download the Comparable Course Guide to see courses at Washington universities and colleges which can fulfill nursing prerequisite course requirements. Questions about specific course transferability for classes not found on the list should be directed to gradnurs@plu.edu Additional Prerequisites for RN-B to MSN Applicants: Current, unencumbered WA State RN License (Note: PLU will verify licensure via the Dept. of Health; do not make a copy of your RN license) Nursing 430, Situations with Communities (5 semester units, offered at PLU in the spring) All prerequisites must be completed by the program start date. In addition to the above listed application requirements, international students must provide proof of English proficiency: TOEFL iBT minimum scores: 86 cumulative score, with minimum individual scores of 26 speaking, 20 writing, 20 reading, and 20 listening. IELTS (academic version) minimum scores: 6.5 overall band score, with minimum individual band scores of 8 speaking, 5.5 writing, 6.5 reading, and 6.5 listening. Admission Requirements for BSN-MSN- The following application requirements pertain to Bachelor of Science in Nursing-prepared registered nurses pursuing either the Master of Science in Nursing—Care and Outcomes Manager program, or the Master of Science in Nursing/Master of Business Administration Dual Degree program.
