The Nirmala Institute of Education was set up for the prime endeavor to instill a sense of vocation in teachers and professionals in allied fields by providing the quality education to them; so as to empower them to achieve their highest potential through a spirit of commitment. Here are the details of the course of the Post Graduate Diploma In Counselling In Schools at the Nirmala Institute of the Education- The institute offers the following course Post Graduate Diploma in Guidance & Counselling (PGDGC) The PGDGC courses at the institute was established on 31st May 2003 by the management of the Nirmala Institute of Education. Since its inception the institute have equipped students with knowledge and competencies necessary to function as counsellors in different settings of the education . Practical work is given priority at the institute while teaching this courses . Students have to complete 75 hours of personal counselling and 50 hours of testing, guidance and counselling while at this course. Five residential workshops are conducted on the different therapies. Besides students have to give a workshop in schools on relevant themes while doing this course. Course Duration: Nine months (Mid July to Mid April) Classes will be conducted four times a week at the institute Course timings: 3.00 pm to 6.15 pm Intake capacity: 30 students Eligibility to get the admissions Candidates must have passed the Bachelor’s Degree Examination or equivalent examination of any other recognized University, by securing a minimum of 45% marks or equivalent Grade to get the admission to the courses at the isntitute. Admission Procedures The prospectus is available in the Institute office from end May to June to get the admissions. The prospective candidates can collect the same, fill it and submit it to the Institute within a time frame of 15 – 20 days as mentioned in the prospectus so as to get the admission to the course. After the submission of the forms, they are scrutinised and a date is fixed for the oral interviews of the aspirants of this course at the institute . The interview is conducted by a panel of three professors and the co-ordinator of the course sop as to select the candidates. The course starts from Mid July to Mid April followed by the exams.
