Preparation Tips For CAT Exam

I am interested in the field of management and for this decided to apply for the CAT (Common Admission Test). Will you tell what the eligibility to apply for CAT (Common Admission Test) also provide me preparation tips so that I can prepare well for this CAT entrance examination?

CAT (Common Admission Test) is a national level management aptitude test conducted by IIMs primarily for admission to several management programs offered by IIMs.

Eligibility:

Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent qualification (recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India) with minimum 50% marks or its equivalent CGPA (45% for candidates belonging to SC/ST/DA/PwD category applicants).
Candidates those are appearing for final year graduation or its equivalent or awaiting for their result are eligible to apply

Preparation Tips For CAT Exam

CAT Preparation Strategy


Traditional strategy (generally for beginners or first-timers) is to join a coaching institute.
Self-Study method for those who don’t have the option or opportunity to join coaching classes.
Self-Study with test series of any popular coaching institute to get overall idea where you stand in the crowd.

CAT Preparation Dimensions

Speed: Number of questions you can solve (correctly) in any time limit considering the difficulty level.
Accuracy: There is negative marking for wrong answers. Accuracy means correct questions of all attempted.
Concentration: For 120 minutes test, the level of concentration decreases as time passes.
Easy Qs: Every paper has some easy questions which shouldn't be left.
Traps: These are hard questions which looks easy, so candidated tend to waste time on these.

August, 2017 to September, 2017

Downloading window of admit card will be open from
October, 2017

Examination date
November, 2017

Result announcement date
Second week of January, 2017
