Punjab Technical University (PTU), Jalandhar has been agreed endorsement by 'UGC-AICTE-DEC joint Committee' for all projects being offered through Distance Education Mode in its 35th meeting hung on tenth March 2010 at New Delhi.

It has been indicated in the choice that Distance Education and Online Education 'can't have limits or state purview and in this manner these projects ought to be offered according to the ACT and statues of the University.

The service of HRD through Gazette notice No.44 dated March 1, 1995 had expressed that every one of the capabilities honoured through Distance Education by the Universities stand consequently perceived with the end goal of job in Central Government workplaces and for all motivations behind Higher Education, if it has been endorsed by Distance Education Council.

Recently, for better coordination between the statuary groups of advanced education, basically, DEC, UGC and AICTE, MHRD framed a "Joint council of DEC-UGC-AICTE". It was declared that it is compulsory to take earlier endorsement from Joint Committee of DEC-UGC-AICTE to offer projects in Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode and had asked all Universities offering ODL projects to present a new application for endorsement.

A powerful 'Master Committee' comprising of individuals assigned by UGC, AICTE, and DEC went by the PTU Campus on 27th July 2009. Taking into account the proposals of the master advisory group the Joint Committee has concurred endorsement to PTU for scholarly years.

Punjab Technical University, a state Technical University, is perceived by UGC and is an individual from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). The University has a base of more than 3 lakh understudies and offers Post Graduate, Degree and Diploma programs in 10 disciplines.
