Qualification required for IAS Exam
What is the minimum qualification required to appear for IAS - Indian Administrative Service exam???? IAS - Indian Administrative Service exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Eligibility for IAS Qualification-- - You must hold a degree of any of Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University Under Section-3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification Nationality-- -You must be a citizen of India. Age-- -You must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years -The upper age limit prescribed above will be relaxable : upto a maximum of five years -- Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe. upto a maximum of three years -- Other Backward Classes who are eligible to avail of reservation applicable to such candidates. upto a maximum of five years --if a candidate had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from the 1st January, 1980 to the 31st day of December, 1989. upto a maximum of three years-- in the case of Defence Services personnel disabled in operations during hostilities upto a maximum of five years --in the case of ex-servicemen including Commissioned Officers and ECOs/SSCOs who have rendered at least five years Military Service Upto a maximum of five years ---in the case of ECOs/SSCOs who have completed an initial period of assignment of five years Military Service upto a maximum of 10 years ---in the case of blind, deaf - muteand orthopaedically handicapped persons. IAS Exam Pattern ------ IAS Prelims -- General Studies Paper I-- Maximum marks : 200 Number of Questions : 100 Total Time : 120 minutes (02 hours) General Studies Paper II-- Maximum marks : 200 Number of Questions : 80 Total Time : 120 minutes (02 hours) IAS Mains -- Paper I (One of the Indian Languages to be selected by the candidate) Maximum marks : 200 Paper II (English) Maximum marks : 300 Paper III (Essay) Maximum marks : 200 Paper IV & V (General Studies) Maximum marks : 600 Paper VI, VII, VIII, IX (Any two subjects (each having 2 papers) to be selected from the prescribed optional subjects) Maximum marks : 1200 Last edited by Neelurk; April 14th, 2020 at 01:45 PM. |
