The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of Ravenshaw University began in the year 2002. At the underlying stage, one year Post Graduate Diploma (PGDJMC) course was presented with the understudy quality of 48. The Department was later updated in the year 2005 to give a two year Post Graduate Degree (MAJMC) course in Journalism and Mass Communication with an admission limit of 64 understudies. The course educational programs of the two year proficient course has been planned according to the rules of UGC implied for Media Industries, Corporate Sectors and so on.

Resources having exceptional and rich media encounter are the advantages of this division. Moreover, the Department welcome understood writers, Editors of various Print and Electronic Media and also experienced experts from Corporate Sectors as Guest resources to share their experience to edify understudies.

The Department has been sorting out different Workshops, Seminars, Symposia and Conferences and as a major aspect of the course educational programs directs a few Field Tours. Very much outlined PC lab, A/V types of gear and Library are the components of this Department. Understudies of this Department are all around put in different Media Industries and also other correspondence parts.
