The Sophisticated Analytical Instruments Facility (SAIF), in the past known as RSIC, was built up by Department of Science and Technology (DST). This is the first among the seven RSIC's built up along these lines by DST. Organizational Structure

The everyday working of the SAIF is managed by the Head, SAIF, who is an employee of the Institute. The Facilities Management Committee (FMC) directs and controls the exercises of the SAIF. The FMC at SAIF Madras comprises of the delegates of DST and specialists to be designated by the Institute in interview with DST.
