Can you tell me about the expected salary/pay scale for the post of Assistant Commandant (AC) in CAPF or Central Armed Police Forces of India?

Assistant Commandant (AC), equivalent to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) / Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) is a Group-A Gazetted Officer rank in the Central Armed Police Forces of India.

ACs in Central Armed Police Forces is appointed directly through UPSC selection process and is called Directly Appointed Gazetted Officers (DAGO). One can reach up to the rank of ADG in the own organizations without having conferred to the Indian Police Service.

Examination for the post of Central Police Forces (Assistant Commandants) is conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

UPSC CAPF Pay Scale:
• An Assistant Commandant gets the pay scale of Rs. 15,600 to Rs. 39,100.

• The Government of India has fixed salary grades for its employees at various posts.

• The pay scales however, keep on changing with new pay commission.

• In addition to the salary, one receives various types of allowances such as Dearness Allowance, City compensatory Allowance, Leave Travel Allowance, Medical and Subsidized Housing.

• Total salary of an assistant commandant is around 70000/-thousand rupees per month.

UPSC CAPF Educational Qualification:
One must possess Bachelor’s Degree of a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section-3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or an equivalent qualification.

UPSC CAPF Age Limit:
• One’s age should be between 20-25 years.
• Age relaxation is applicable as per rules.

UPSC CAPF Selection Procedure:

The Candidates would be selected on the basis of
• Written Exam.
• Physical and Medical standards tests.
• Physical Efficiency test (PET).
• Interview/ Personality test.
