Details for admission to B. Maths (Hons) & B.Stats (Hons)

Admission to B.Maths (Hons.) and B.Stats (Hons.) is discussed here and both courses are offered by the ISI as a comprehensive three year degree program.

Deserving Students get a Stipend of Rs. 3000 per month of B.Maths (Hons.) offered in Bengaluru and B.Stats (Hons.) offered in Kolkata.

Eligibility:

B.Stat (Hons.)- Successful completion of Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent with Mathematics and Englis as subjects of study at 10+ 2 level. This course is offered in the ISI Kolkata campus.

B.Math (Hons.)- Successful completion of Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent with Mathematics and English as subjects of study at 10+ 2 level. This course is offered in the ISI Bengaluru campus.

ISI Entrance Exam Pattern 2015
B.Stat and B.Maths Paper will have both Objective Type Questions and subjective type questions. The Questions will only be on Mathematics Subject and questions would not be asked from other subjects.

MCQ Type Questions - from 10:30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.
Descriptive Type Questions- from 2 p.m. to 4p.m.

Permutations and combinations
Binomial Theorem.
Logarithms.
Polynomials: relations between roots and coefficients
Remainder Theorem, Theory of quadratic equations and expressions.
Arithmetic and geometric progressions.
Inequalities involving arithmetic, geometric & harmonic means.
Complex numbers.

Geometry

Class 10 level plane geometry
Geometry of 2 dimensions with Cartesian and polar coordinates, concept of a locus, equation of a line
Angle between two lines
Distance from a point to a line, area of a triangle, equations of circle, parabola, ellipse and hyperbola and equations of their tangents and normal, mensuration.

Trigonometry

Measures of angles, trigonometric and inverse trigonometric functions, trigono-

Calculus
