The vision is to develop the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) Guwahati Campus as a world class social sciences institution to create human resources and knowledge contributing to build just and peaceful societies across the North-Eastern States.


TISS Guwahati Campus Library


Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) library in Guwahati campus grew to provide suitable knowledge resources to the academic community of the Institute. Keeping in mind, the information needs & interest of users, it has been in the process of building print as well as electronic resources.

As a result, its collection include books pertaining to the areas of History, Sociology, Economics, Political Science, Psychology, Environment, Mathematics, Science, Language, Literature and Development.

At present, it has a good collection of text books and reference books (< 8500 in nos.), journals (print) of national & international importance, theses and dissertation, back volume of journals, theme – based collection of CDs/DVDs and magazines/newspapers. As electronic collections, the library has more than 10, 000 e – journals, 180 e – books in the field of Social Sciences and allied subjects.

Access to e-resources is made available to users through IP based & Remote Login based facility. In addition, the campus has a computer centre with the facility of 65 computers and is available for students and research scholars to provide e-resources for academic study.

The library is fully computerized with KOHA, an integrated library management system; users can access the resources of the library through Online Public Access Catalogue @ 24x7.

The Library has also created a Library Blog to keep users abreast with current development and publish Accession Update at monthly basis to keep users familiar with newly purchased books.
