THDC India Limited is a Joint Venture of Govt. of India and Govt. of Uttar Pradesh. The Equity is partaken in the proportion of 75:25 amongst GoI and GoUP. The Company was consolidated in July' 88 to create, work and keep up the 2400 MW Tehri Hydro Power Complex and other hydro ventures. The Company has an approved offer capital of Rs. 4000 cr. THDCIL is a Mini Ratna Category-I and Schedule "A" CPSE.

The underlying order of THDCIL was to create, work and keep up the 2,400 MW Tehri Hydro Power Complex (including 1000 MW Tehri Dam and HPP, 1000 MW Tehri Pumped Storage Plant and 400 MW Koteshwar HEP) and other Hydro Projects.

Add up to introduced limit of THDCIL directly is 1513 MW. THDCIL has two Hydro producing stations in particular Tehri Stage-I (4X250 MW) and Koteshwar HEP (4X100 MW) and two operational Wind Power Projects in Gujarat, one at Patan (25X2 MW) and another at Devbhoomi Dwarika (30X2.1 MW).

THDCIL directly has an arrangement of 14 ventures totaling to an introduced limit of 5719 MW under different phases of usage/advancement.

The 1,000 MW Tehri Power Station was appointed by THDCIL in 2006-07. The Tehri Project is multipurpose Project giving power toward the Northern Region, Irrigation advantages to Uttar Pradesh, and Drinking Water to NCT of Delhi and U.P. Because of managed discharges from the Tehri stockpiling supply, the current downstream hydro ventures of the State are likewise profiting by method for increase in era at no extra cost to them.
