Re: University Of The Pacific IGETC
Yes IGETC is necessary for the general education requirement in University of Pacific for transferring students. It is recommended that you follow either the CSU or UC (IGETC) General Education programs in order for your General Education courses to count for its General Education requirements. However, a general education program which is specifically designed to simply earn an Associate’s degree will not, in and of itself, meet its General Education requirements. The University of the Pacific generally accepts those courses which are of the same quality and equivalency as courses offered on its campus. The maximum number of units that will be accepted from a community college is 70. Additional community college courses may satisfy content requirements only and will not apply to the minimum units required for graduation. Most courses completed at four-year accredited colleges and universities will transfer. Transfer students who completed the IGETC or CSU Breadth General Education requirements at a California Community College prior to enrolling at Pacific satisfy Pacific's General Education program, though they must complete PACS 003. Students who have not completed IGETC or the CSU pattern will have their courses articulated to the GE program on a course-by-course basis and should contact the registrar's office for more information.
