Uttar Pradesh public Service Commission (UPPSC) Provincial Civil Services- PCS exam every year is conducted in the state.

There are large no. of applicants for this examination.

The competition is very high as there are many candidates who wish to join the civil services in the state.

UPPSC PCS Mains Exam Pattern–

The objective type question paper will be seen. There will be compulsory subjects and optional subjects in the examination.

Compulsory Subjects-

General Subject- 150 marks

Essay Writing- 150 marks

General Studies Part 1- 200 marks

General Studies Part 2- 200 marks

For General Hindi and Essay writing, 3 hours time will be allotted to the applicants and for General Studies (Part 1 & 2), 2 Hours will be allotted

UPPSC PCS Mains Exam Syllabus-

Hindi Subject- Unseen passages, Abstraction, Government and Semi Government letters,telegram writing, Circular writing, Prefixes & Suffices, Antonyms, Synonyms, idioms & phrases, Spelling & Sentence correction


Essay Writing- There are further 3 sections in this paper-

1st Section- Literature and Culture, Social Sphere, political Sphere

2nd Section- Science & Environment and Technology, Economic Sphere, Agriculture & industry and Trade

3rd Section- National and International affairs, natural calamities, National Development programmes and projects

From above sections, the applicant needs to select 1 topic from each section and write the essay on it.

General Studies I- History of India, Indian National Movement, Population, Environment and Urbanization, World Geography, national & International events, Uttar Pradesh Knowledge

General Studies II- Indian Polity, Indian Economy, general Science, General mental Ability, Statistical Analysis
