Eligibility Minimum Educational Qualifications:- The candidate must hold a degree of any of Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University Under Section-3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification. Age Limit:- A candidate must have attained the age of Minimum 21 years and must not have attained the age of Maximum 32 years. Physical Requirements Height: A minimum height of 165 cm for men and 150 cm for women. The minimum height is relaxable to 160 and 145 cm for men and women respectively in the case of candidates belonging to ST and to races such as Gorkhas, Garhwalias, Assamese, Kumaonis, Nagaland Tribals, etc. Chest: The minimum chest girth, fully expanded: 84 cm for men and 79 cm for women. Expansion of 5 cm for both men and women. Eyesight: A distant vision of 6/2 or 6/ 9 for worse eye and 6/6 or 6/9 vision for good eye. Near vision of J2 for worse eye and J1 for good eye The physical standards are essential for IPS, which includes weekly run for 10kms in 60 minutes, rope climbing, horse riding, PT obstacles etc Number of attempts: The number of attempts restriction to appaer for the exam is as follows: For General category candidates: 4 attempts For SC/ST candidates: No restriction For OBC candidates: 7 attempts Duties and Responsibilities Roles and Responsibilities To fulfill duties based on border responsibilities, in the areas of maintenance of public peace and order, crime prevention, investigation, and finding, collecting of intelligence reports, taking care of VIP security, counter-terrorism, border patroling, railway policing, working towards preventing smuggling, drug trafficking, economic offences, corruption, playing a key role in disaster management, enforcement of socio-economic legislation, bio-diversity and defending of environmental laws etc. Exchanging information with the Indian Intelligence Agencies like R&AW, IB, CID, CBI Leading the Central Armed Police Force (CRPF) and being in touch with them on a regular basis Interact and coordinate with the Indian Revenue services (IRS), Indian Armed forces, primarily with the Indian Army Serve the people of the country with full integrity, honesty and whole hearted dedication |
