YCMOU stands for The Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU). It was established in July 1989 by Act XX- (1989) of the Maharashtra State Legislature, the university is named after Yashwantrao Chavan

The university is situated in Nasik, Maharashtra and affiliated by UGC.

The university has recently launched EduSat-based education, supported by the Indian Space Research Organization. The university has established several Virtual Learning Centers in the State, each having two-way audio and video communication facilities
