The Department of Geology of Karnataka University was established in 1954. The Department has blossomed into a prestigious center for Earth Science Studies and Research in India. The Department has excellent facilities for teaching and research.

The vision of Department of Geology of Karnataka University is to impart geosciences education to meet the economic development of the region and train technical manpower that can harness natural resources – oil and natural gas, groundwater and conservation of non-renewable energy resources.
