Re: Gmat toefl

As per my detail both GMAT and TOEFL entrance exams are present for taking admission for MBA. But the GMAT scores are accepted by all India universities and the TOEFL is an entrance for abroad institutes.

All international students whose native language is not English need to provide a TOEFL score as proof of English proficiency for university study.

A TOEFL score is accepted at over 9,000 colleges and universities in over 130 countries, including nearly every top university in the U.S., Canada and Australia.

If you are looking for going to business school, the GMAT is a necessary part of your application.

A 3½-hour computerized exam, the GMAT tests has analytical writing skills, quantitative skills and verbal skills through 78 multiple choice questions and two analytical essays.

Exam pattern:

GMAT:

Analytical Writing Assignment: One essay about the weaknesses in an argument that you read
Integrated Reasoning: Math-based questions on reading tables, charts, and diagrams
Quantitative: Math
Verbal: Reading comprehension multiple choice, grammar, critical reasoning

TOEFL:

Reading: Reading comprehension multiple choice
Listening: Listening comprehension multiple choice
Speaking: Open responses (speaking into a microphone), including summarizing recordings and text
Writing: One essay summarizing a lecture, another essay explaining your opinion

Basic difference:

GMAT (Graduate Management Admissions Test)
Target audience: Business school applicants.
Required by: Business schools
Purpose: To assess a candidate’s suitability for business school, by assessing verbal, mathematical and analytical skills.
Duration: Three hours and 30 minutes

TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
Target audience: Those wishing to study a program delivered in English.
Required by: Institutions offering programs in English (this includes English language degrees in non-Anglophone countries) TOEFL results are accepted as proof of English language proficiency in countries where this is required to obtain a visa.
Purpose: To test a candidate’s proficiency in English.
Duration: Around four hours and 30 minutes, with a mandatory 10 minute break midway through
