Admission in Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) programme offered by NID (National Institute of Design) is open to one who has passed or will appear for qualifying exams under the Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalents like AISSCE/ IB/ ISC. Successful candidates are given admission to the academic programme, by the institute, subject to their passing the qualifying exams. The medium of instruction at NID is English. Upper age limit for candidates is 20 years (relaxable by 3 years for reserved categories). B. Des. Curriculum INDUSTRIAL DESIGN Product Design Furniture Design Ceramic & Glass Design COMMUNICATION DESIGN Graphic Design Animation Film Design Film & Video Communication Exhibition(Spatial) Design TEXTILE, APPAREL & LIFESTYLE ACCESSORY DESIGN Textile Design NID Entrance Exam syllabus NID Entrance Exam consists of questions from the following topics: 1. Visual Design 2. Thematic Color Arrangement 3. Subjects of Design 4. Sensitivity to Environment 5. Memory Drawing 6. Knowledge of Proportions and Perspective 7. General Mental Ability 8. Drawing Skills 9. Creativity 10. Composition 11. Communication Skills 12. Animation 13. Abstract Symbolism NID Entrance Exam pattern NID test areas include: • Worldview • Mental Ability • Drawing • Creativity • Communication Skills NID written exam is followed by studio test and personal interview for the final selection. |
