Number of Attempts for Civil Services Exam
Will you please give me idea for the number of attempts for Civil Services Exam??? The Civil Services Examination (CSE) is a nationwide competitive examination in India which is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment to the various Civil Services of the Government of India, including Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS) among others Number of Attempts for Civil Services Exam -Six attempts for General category candidates and OBC category candidates under the Creamy layer -Nine attempts for OBC category candidates -There is no limit on the number of attempts for SCs/STs, However these candidates are requested to bear in mind: -Candidates just applied but not appeared at the exam is not an attempt. -An attempt at a Preliminary Examination shall be considered to be an attempt at the Examination. -If a candidate actually appears in any one paper in the Preliminary Examination, he/she shall be deemed to have made an attempt at the Examination. -Not withstanding the disqualification/cancellation of candidature, the fact of appearance of the candidate at the examination will count as an attempt. Eligibility for Civil Service Exam Nationality You must be either: A citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal, or a subject of Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India. a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Srilanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India. Age Limits Must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on 1st August, in the year of examination. The upper age limit prescribed above will be relaxable in the following cases: Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe - upto a maximum of five years. Other Backward Classes - upto a maximum of three years. State of Jammu & Kashmir (Domiciled during the period from the 1st January, 1980 to 31st December, 1989) - upto a maximum of five years.
