The aim of Madras University Union to promote activities in the field of Sports and Games with excellent infrastructure facilities and also to provide a systematic and scientific training for the students of affiliated colleges. More than 17,000 students get competitive experience from the zonal and Inter-zonal competition organized by the Madras University every year. Nature of Programme • Madras University affiliated colleges divided into two Zones. (Both Men & Women). • Total number of Games and Sports 36. • Competitions are conducted on Zonal and Inter-Zonal basis. • Nearly 17,000 (Seventeen Thousands) students get competitive experience every year. • University players are selected from the Inter-Zonal Competition. • Dr. Sir. A. Lakshmanaswamy Mudaliar Silver Jubilee Commemoration Athletic Meet is conducted every year in the month of October. • Conduct of Summer Residential Coaching Camp and Award Function every year during the month of May and June. • Coaching for school children, college boys and girls, both Morning and Evening sessions at University Union Ground. • Selection and Preparation of Madras University Teams, (36 disciplines) to participate in the Inter-University competition organized by Association of Indian Universities every year. • To conduct All India Inter-University Sports/Games Competitions. • To conduct Award Function for the Madras University Sportspersons, Managers and Coaches who have brought laurels to our University by securing medals during the All India Inter-University Competitions. • To organize Madras University Inter Campus Sports/Games Competitions every year. Play Field Facilities • Multipurpose Track and Field (outdoor), Football, Hockey, handball, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Cricket, Ball Badminton, Volleyball and Tennis. • Multipurpose Indoor Stadium Volleyball, Basketball, Badminton and Table Tennis. • Multi-gym (16Station) |
