ABN AMRO Bank N.V. is a Dutch bank with headquarters in Amsterdam. ABN AMRO Bank is the third-largest bank in the Netherlands.

It was nationalized by the Dutch government along with Fortis Bank Nederland.

Shareholder structure

Currently ABN AMRO’s shareholder structure is as shown below.

All shares in the capital of ABN AMRO Group N.V., are held by two foundations: stichting administratiekantoor beheer financiële instellingen (NLFI) and Stichting Administratiekantoor Continuïteit ABN AMRO Group (STAK AAG).

Currently NLFI holds 56% and STAK AAG holds 44% of the shares in the issued capital of ABN AMRO Group N.V. Both foundations have issued depositary receipts for shares in ABN AMRO Group N.V.

Only STAK AAG’s depositary receipts are issued with the cooperation of ABN AMRO Group N.V.




ABN AMRO Bank has offices in 15 countries, most of whom are based in the Netherlands with only 5,000 in other countries.

Its operations include a private banking division which focuses on high-net-worth clients in 14 countries as well as commercial and merchant banking operations that play a major role in energy, commodities and transportation markets as well as brokerage, clearing, and custody.
